Creating an ad hosted on an external ad service is very easy. You want to make sure that your ad unit matches the size of the specific ad feed that you’re connecting. Once you have the feed setup via the specific ad network you’ll have a code to paste into your website. You want to copy this code and store it in a safe place as well as make sure you have it handy while you’re creating the new ad.
First navigate to the AdSanity section of your dashboard and select “Create Ad” (fig. 1). You’ll then be presented with a tabbed page that allows the choice between an Ad Hosted On-Site, an External Ad Network, and HTML5. You’ll choose an External Ad Network (fig. 2).

Next choose a title for the ad. Then, set the correct ad size for the ad you are creating. The unique part of creating an ad hosted on an external service is making sure that your ad code is pasted in correctly. This is the connective tissue between your ad and the service providing the content of that ad. You can enter a specific slug for the ad if you need to and make any notes that are necessary for the ad. Set the publish start and end dates (or set the ad to run forever). Next, you can set an Ad Group for the ad if you’ve created a group. Finally, you can click links for the short code or template tag for a Non-Widget Embed (fig. 3).

Note that ads hosted on an external ad service do not have their clicks and views tracked in AdSanity and you should look to the providing network for their unique tracking information.
